Level 3 (12 hour) Paediatric First Aid
This accredited qualification provides theoretical and practical training in First Aid techniques that are specific to infants aged 0 to 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty. Learners will become familiar with the role of the paediatric first aider and be able to assess and react appropriately to an emergency situation, such as a child or an infant who is unresponsive, has an airway obstruction or is suffering from shock.:
Topics also included are wounds, fractures, dislocations, injuries to the head, neck, back, eyes, ears or nose, poisoning, bites or stings and electric shock.
This qualification consists of two units and is provided over a period of 2 days with a minimum contact time of 6 hours per unit.
The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage is a document published by The Department for Children, Schools and Families and applies to Early Years childcare within England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Statutory Framework states that ‘at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present. There must be at least one person on outings who has a current paediatric first aid certificate.’ The HABC Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (QCF) is recognised as a qualification that fulfils this need.
To comply with current requirements in the childcare sector, you must take this qualification again after three years. This must be taken as the two days again, there is no shorter course if you have taken the course before.
Paediatric (Blended DAY 2) 12 Hour Adult, Infant, Child First Aid Level 3
We are the only company to be able to offer an alternative to the 2 days in the classroom for childminders and carers who need to complete a Paediatric First Aid Course to comply with the requirements of Ofsted, EYFS and SureStart. Our blended course offers a video based online course that is completed before attending a full day in the classroom with an instructor to complete the practical part of the course. ProTrainings Paediatric courses are approved by most councils across the UK.
This course offers an excellent alternative for those who are simply unable to spare the time to attend 2 days in a classroom only course. When you have successfully completed both the online and classroom modules, you will be issued a ProTrainings wall certificate and wallet card.
Please note that learners undertaking a ProTrainings Trainings Course have the option to chose to take a regulated qualification.
Paediatric 1 day First Aid for Nannies and Au Pairs
The Ofsted requirements for Nannies and Au Pairs depend on whether registration is required . If you choose to register, in most cases people working with children including Nannies, Au Pairs, Childminders, Nursery Workers and Childcare Workers still need the 2 day 12 hour course to meet the requirements. If you are looking at also entering other childcare sectors, then the full 2 day or our blended paediatric course would be best.
Regulations for the Childcare Register require the childminder or home child carer to have an appropriate first aid qualification. However, it is for the provider to determine whether these minimum standards are appropriate for the type of care they provide and whether more advanced training or qualification is required.
